What are semaglutide injections in San Marcos and how do they work?

Semaglutide injections in San Marcos are a type of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide 1) antagonist. GLP-1 is a naturally occurring hormone found in your body and it plays a large role in regulating hunger. The hormone is released in the body after eating. It helps to slow digestion which allows you to feel full faster and longer. GLP-1 also suppresses another hormone, glucagon, which can help reduce feelings of hunger.

GLP-1 agonists bind themselves to GLP-1 receptors, and mimic the effects of naturally-occuring GLP-1. They can also help to improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels.

GLP-1 agonists are administered as an injection on a weekly basis to aid in weight loss in our San Marcos clinic.

What are the benefits of semaglutide weight loss injections?

By helping to regulate your hunger and reduce your appetite, GLP-1 weight loss injections have been shown to help reduce your caloric intake and help you lose weight. Additionally, they may lower your risk of heart disease, reduce blood pressure and improve cholesterol - though it is still unclear whether this is a result of the GLP-1 injection themselves or the resulting weight loss.

How much weight will I lose from semaglutide injections in San Marcos?

The exact amount of weight you may lose is dependent on a variety of factors. In recent large RCTs (randomized control trials) patients with obesity lost a mean of 6% of their weight by week 12 and 12% of their weight by week 28.1

Can anyone take GLP-1 injections?

Anyone looking to supplement a healthy diet and exercise regime are great candidates with a few exceptions. Injections are not recommended for those who are breastfeeding or may be pregnant. They are also not recommended for those who currently have or have a history of eating disorders. Those with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia are also not good candidates.

What are the side effects?

As with any injection, there is a risk of side effects. Some of these side effects include nausea, dizziness, fatigue, stomach pain and low blood sugar. We will review a complete list of possible side effects during your complimentary consultation.

How long is a Semaglutide treatment?

It really depends on the amount of weight you would like to lose. The expected timeframe will be discussed during your initial weight loss injection consultation in our San Marcos clinic.

How much do Semaglutide weight loss injections in San Marcos cost?

Our current price is starting at $69 / weekly injection.

How are Semaglutide weight loss injections administered?

Semaglutide is a once-weekly subcutaneous injection administered in the abdominal area, similar to insulin. Semaglutide weight loss injections are administered in our San Marcos clinic. Since the shots are not injected into the muscle, the needle is very small keeping injection site pain to a minimum. It works continuously between injections to reduce a patient’s appetite and doesn’t require them to remember to take a daily medication.

Do not take with other GLP-1 agonist medicines such as: Adlyxin®, Byetta®, Bydureon®, Ozempic®, Rybelsus®, Trulicity®, Victoza®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, (THIS IS NOT AN ALL-INCLUSIVE LIST). Other medications used in diabetes, please tell your provider about any medications that may lower your blood sugar.

We also offer Laser Double Chin treatment if you’re looking to reduce volume and lift in targeted areas!
